Masterplan | Grays Beach | Grays Station & Southern High Street | Grays Marina
Station square will be the gateway to Grays and the heart of the town. An improved railway station, hotel, shops and offices will be set around a new public space enhancing St Peter and St Paul Church. The bridge and level crossing will be replaced by a new boulevard underpass making it easier to move around the town.
Opening in 2011/2012, Thurrock Learning Campus will play a key role in increasing the opportunities for local people to gain the skills and knowledge needed to access high quality and well paid employment.
The Campus will be a groundbreaking partnership between Further and Higher Education and will provide opportunities for adult community education and work based learning. The Campus will feature a public piazza with a cafe kiosk and outdoor seating and a range of facilities for the whole town.
A tree-lined, traffic-free High Street will be created, linking Station Square and Town Wharf. It will contain shops, cafes, restaurants and bars at ground level, with offices and flats above them. It will become a centre of outdoor activity with al fresco dining, plenty of public seating and offering the chance to expand the popular street market north of the Town Centre.
The Town Wharf will be regenerated as a leisure attraction, and now will mark the river end of the High Street, connecting the town with the waterfront and its maritime heritage. Flood walls will be moved and space created for cafes, bars and restaurants.
