The Masterplan will....
- create jobs
- reconnect the town centre with the waterfront
- improve the waterfront
- make moving around the town easier
- identify the best places for new development
- provide a good mix of housing
- revitalise the town centre
- put education and health at the heart of the town
- improve leisure, recreation and open space
Major new developments are spread throughout the town including a marina, a Further and Higher education learning
campus and a new generation community hospital.
The transport study already completed supports these proposals but more detailed work is being undertaken
to identify specific improvements.
Station Square
- the gateway to Grays and the heart of the town
- new station, hotel, offices and shops around a central public space
- enhanced setting of St Peter & St Paul Church
- footbridge and crossing replaced with a boulevard underpass
- rail/bus/taxi/ interchange with enhanced pedestrian/cycle routes and public areas
- connects North and South Grays to the river
South Grays
- further and Higher education learning campus
- public piazza within learning campus
- facilities for both students and the town
- pedestrian High Street and mixed use centre re-linking the town to the river
- leisure space at Town Wharf
